Facts on NEET
The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) is the pre-medical test conducted in India for admission into medical colleges. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts this test every year in the month of May. All the MBBS, BDS, and Ayush aspirants need to qualify the NEET. This test is mandatory albeit the student is planning to study abroad. NEET is the single entrance test to get All India Quota Seats as well as the State Level seats across the country. This test is additionally valid for admission into private colleges.
Subjects:
Students who want to appear for the NEET-Undergraduate exam must have Physics, Chemistry, Biology as compulsory subjects in Class 11th and 12th.
All India Quota Seats:
Medical aspirants must understand the All India Quota Seats.
- In the Government Medical Colleges of the country, the share of All India Quota Seats is 15.
- Students can apply for the quota seats from any region of the country. If one government medical college has 100 seats, quota seats would be 15.
- These seats are again categorized under two heads: reserved and general categories.
- Scheduled Caste candidates cheer up on the grounds that 15% of quota seats are reserved for you.
- 7.5% held for Scheduled Tribe and
- 27% for the OBC (Other Backward Class) candidates.
NEET Exam Pattern
Candidates who appear for NEET must undergo various topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The length of the NEET examination is 3 hours. The total number of questions candidates will get is 180. For every correct answer, there is an addition of 4 marks and for every wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted from the total score. The total marks in NEET are 720. The NEET examination happens once a year.
NEET Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria for NEET is, a candidate must pass the class 12 exam. The minimum age limit is 17 years. The upper age limit for a candidate seeking admission into Government Medical Colleges under Quota seats is 25 years. This upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Classes. There is no upper age limit to appear NEET for State Quota Seats. However, admission happens on the basis of the prevailing norms in each state.
Number of Attempts:
There is no maximum attempt. Students can take as many attempts as they want to.
